TEMPRANILL0 - CALIFORNIA

JAMBO TEMBO

Jambo-Tembo.jpg

This full-bodied, distinctively spicy red from California embodies the spirit of the forward-thinking, hard-working farmers who call the state their home. The image of the laid-back surfer, whiling away the hours on the beach is far from the reality of our wine-growing partners at Jambo Tembo, who work tirelessly under the hot, dry sun of Central California in pursuit of vinous perfection. No surprise, then, that Jambo Tembo is  correspondingly bold and intense, with a medium-bodied profile and rigid structure that evokes the spirit of the farmers that grow it.

WINE PROFILE

Our California Tempranillo is full of black cherry, clove, and cedar. Jambo Tembo is a powerful wine with an old world character and a structured framework that transports you to its homeland of sun, sky and tireless dedication to the craft of winegrowing.

FOOD COMBINATIONS

Lasagna, sirloin, many Mexican dishes, pasta with Bolognese Sauce, squash ravioli, aged Parmesan cheese.

TEMPRANILLO FIX

Tempranillo grapes are well suited to the dry landscapes of California’s interior, sending their roots deep down into the ground in an ever-present search for water. The grapes produced are small and the clusters tight, with an incredible skin-to-juice ratio. The wines produced from this rugged fruit are correspondingly intense, concentrated and richly extracted, with dark color and savory aromas.

WINE SPECS

APPELLATION: California

VINTAGE: 2019

VARIETAL COMPOSITION: 100% Tempranillo

WINEMAKING PROCESS: The timing of the Tempranillo harvest is paramount – harvest too early and the wine is devoid of regional character; wait too long and the wines lose structure and focus. Fortunately, our winegrowers for Jambo Tembo are masters of this critical timing, and the result is an alluring, rich and spicy wine that is both balanced and rich, concentrated and pure. With an increasingly warming climate and water resources becoming scarcer, more and more California winegrowers are turning to Tempranillo as their grape of choice. Originally hailing from the arid plains of central Spain, Tempranillo is a grape variety that is uniquely positioned to withstand the upcoming challenges of grapegrowing in California. This is one of the reasons we are so proud of Jambo Tembo Tempranillo – the red wave of the future.
